What Markers for Writing on Guest Logs for Wedding
Hello gorgeous humans!
We've had a few enquiries about the best pens for signing your wedding guestbooks. So we took the credit card and spent up large at our favourite stationery stores, purchasing a ton of pretty pens so you don't have to!
There's a few things to keep in mind when picking the perfect pen for signing your guest book:
- You'll want the ink to flow straight away, smoothly
- The ink shouldn't bleed through to the other side of the page (or even the page below!)
- The faster the ink dries, the less it will smudge, and the better it'll look. Especially if you have some left-handed guests
- You want the tip of the pen to stay crisp and clean. The thicker the tip, the bigger the handwriting
- It would be nice if the ink matches the colour scheme of the wedding
- ...and the pen should looks as good as the guestbook does
Pretty Guestbooks that are functional as well
We've conducted these tests on our guestbooks, so please note that your results may vary if you've picked a different page option or another brand. We especially picked the card stock and weight after lots of tests and feedback, as a thinner weight or glossier finish can cause issues on the day and leave you with a guestbook that's less than perfect (even if it ends up cheaper to produce... what's the point if it doesn't perform its function?!)
What are the best pens for signing guestbooks?
You want to ensure that the messages and notes your wedding guests share are as beautiful as the sentiments they are sharing. So when choosing a pen, you want one where the ink flows smoothy as soon as you start writing.
You don't want too much ink flowing though - too heavy and the ink will bleed through to the other side of the page. You can also get smudges and smears with too much ink.
A factor to consider if looking at thicker felt-tip pens in particular, is how the tip will last. The thicker tips tend to blunt quickly which leads to a thicker stroke that can be harder to read.
A final thing to consider is the aesthetics - an ink colour that complements the guestbook theme and paper colour, and then a pen that looks as good as the guestbook.
For the purposes of our tests, we selected pens readily available in New Zealand. As a proudly New Zealand owned business, we wanted you to be able to call into your local stationery shop to grab the pens we recommend.
The majority of the pens in the videos are available for purchase from Paper Plus.
